Naoko Takebe, M.D., Ph.D.

Naoko Takebe, M.D., PhD, is the Nancy Johnston Records Endowed Chair in Oncology Professor and a hematologist/oncologist at the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City. She is an Attending Physician at OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center and an Attending Physician at the Phase I Clinical Trials Clinic.

Dr. Takebe specializes in Phase I Clinical Trials for any cancer type, including pancreatic cancer and sarcomas and rare cancers. She is also an investigator for the NCI Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network and a member of the NCI Investigational Drug Steering Committee for 18 years. She serves as Chair of the Investigator Initiated Clinical Trial Program and as Associate Director of Clinical Research and the Solid Tumor Oncology Section Chief at OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center.

Dr. Takebe is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research, Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, American Society of Gene and Cellular Therapy, American Society of Hematology, and American College of Physicians.

 Dr. Takebe completed a hematology-oncology fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City, NY. She also completed her post-doctoral fellowship in “Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics” at the MSKCC. She completed an internal medicine residency at California Pacific Medical Center/Children's Hospital in San Francisco, Calif. She also completed her internal medicine residency at the Keio University School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine and completed her internship at the US Naval Hospital Yokosuka in Japan.

 She is board certified in hematology and medical oncology. She earned her M.D. and Ph.D. from the Hirosaki University School of Medicine in Japan.
